Amd Pcs Blocked From Getting The Latest Windows 10 Build

We have some good news and some bad news as well. We’ll start with the good news. Microsoft just pushed out Windows 10 build 17035. It brings lots of new features, fixes, and enhancements.

The bad news, on the other hand, is that those of you who own PCs with AMD CPUs should stay alert because it looks like you will not be able to see this build due to a bug check problem when you install new builds.

Microsoft seems to be aware of this AMD problem considering that the company posted about it on its blog.

The senior program manager on the Windows Insider team, Brandon LeBlanc, noted at the beginning of the blog post for build 17035 that there is a bug that causes PCs running on AMD CPUs to bug check during the upgrading process to current builds.

Due to this bug check issue, LeBlanc noted that Microsoft is blocking all PCs that are powered by AMD CPUs from receiving the build. The company is currently investigating the situation, and it’s also working on a fix to be able to remove the block as soon as possible and allows owners of PCs powered by AMD CPUs to get the build as well.

As a quick reminder, this is not the first time that Microsoft blocked AMD-powered computers from getting the latest updates. Back in April, the company blocked Windows 7 update installs on old AMD computers by mistake.

Even if this whole situation is really frustrating for those affected, we are confident that Microsoft will find a way to fix this issue rather sooner than later.
