At the moment, there isn’t an official PlayStation Network app available on the Windows Store for Windows 8, 8.1 or Windows RT users, but there are some third-party developers that have come up with a solution for those in need of something similar.

With not quite an appropriate name, FoulPlay is a new Windows 8 app that lets you unofficially access the PlayStation Network through your desktop or touch Windows 8, 8.1 or RT devices. But since this is an unofficial application and it makes use of Sony’s trademark, I guess it could be pulled any moment now, so if you were on the lookout for such a service, then you definitely should hurry and download the app by following the link at the end of the article.

Of course, this app is no match for how an official PlayStation Network app should look and feel like for Windows 8 users, but it’s pretty reliable, considering it comes from a third-party developer. So, since it’s a fresh release, if it remains live on the Windows Store, then most likely future updates will bring even more features and will fix bugs and glitches that will appear as more and more Windows 8, 8.1 users will download and install the app.

“FoulPlay: The Unofficial PlayStation Network App” for Windows 8 comes with four main features: the ability to send and receive messages, to compare trophy lists and to view recent activities. Also, you can see and respond to game invites and with live tile and toast notification support, you will be updated with the latest activities in your PSN account or whenever someone on their PlayStation is trying to contact you. And with just a size of 1 megabyte, it’s pity not to download this one, if you own a PlayStation.

Envious of your iPad and Android owning friends, who have their own mediocre, HTML Based, official Playstation Network app? Well, envy no more! FoulPlay is the first Windows 8 app to allow you to connect to the PSN.
