Windows 10 build 14366 brings with it a huge number of fixes and improvements and prepares the way for the Anniversary Update. Since builds are not meant to be perfect, build 14366 also brought some issues of its own. One of the first problems detected was related to the Start feature that remains unresponsive to users who try to access it.

As Insiders further tested the current build, they also encountered some issues related to Windows 10’s icons. More specifically, build 14366 replaces icons with simple, colored squares. Luckily, this issue doesn’t impact the app’s functionality, but it’s nevertheless pretty annoying.

Microsoft actually heavily focused on improving the icon design in May and was even criticized by Insiders for deploying such resources into a such a minor element. The tech giant added more color to the File Explorer icon, fixed small and blurry Taskbar icons, and even updated Blu-Ray and Wi-Fi icons a week ago.

Issues related to Windows 10’s icons seemed to be the last problems Insiders had expected to see, yet it happened, as the screenshot below shows it:

For the time being, Microsoft’s Support Team hasn’t offered any explanation or solution for this issue.

Although the above-mentioned issue doesn’t prevent you from using apps, there are instances when the Windows 10 icons don’t work. Should you ever find yourself in this situation, check out our fix article on this subject.
