There are many Linux fans out there who have embraced Ubuntu over Windows, but we must agree that it isn’t exactly as versatile as Microsoft’s OS. And now Canonical wants to convince you why you should renounce to Windows 10 and choose Ubuntu. For those who aren’t aware, Canonical is a UK-based software company founded by Mark Shuttleworth back in 2004 to market commercial support and related services for Ubuntu and related projects.

The company has recently published a new blog post on its website with the title – ‘Windows 10: is it finally time to migrate to Ubuntu?‘. Obviously, Canonical tries to come up with all of the reasons why you should choose Ubuntu Windows 10.

Would you switch from Windows 10 to Ubuntu?

Where the UK company seems to be aiming is the enterprise audience, as it asserts that ‘costs for users opting for alternative operating systems can be reduced by as much as 70 percent‘.Furthermore, John Melamut with the company cites ‘heavy resource constraints on devices and meatier royalty fees’ as well as privacy issues.

Canonical also wants to point out that while Microsoft is offering a free download of Windows 10, it is for a limited time and ‘only available’ for Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and selected Windows Phone 8.1; otherwise it costs $199. This is perhaps a move for those who have many Windows XP machines in their yard.

However, the reality seems to have a different opinion than Canonical, as there have been reported large numbers of Volume Licensing customers who are ready to upgrade Windows 10 by early next year. So maybe it was a great time for alternative OSes when Windows 8 and 8.1 was around, but now that X is here, I guess the Linux gang is afraid?

What’s your take on this? Do you think Windows 10 has what it takes to keep Ubuntu away or it will be seeing mass exodus at least when it comes to enterprise users? Do leave your comment below and let us know your take.
