Windows 8 ultrabooks are the latest and greatest when it comes to tablets and laptops. We are all looking for cheap, yet good offers on the market and most of them start at the $1000 mark. However, recently, Lenovo has announced the pricing and availability of the IdeaPad Yoga 11S. And, at $799, it might become an interesting proposition, taking into account what it has to offer.

Preorders are already live on Lenovo’s website, where prices range from $799 to $1,349, but currently you’ll have to wait for almost one month until you reach this mini-Ultrabook, as Lenovo likes to call it. In the physical world, the IdeaPad Yoga 11S will go on sale in Best Buy stores as soon as June 23rd. Consumers have been awaiting for the IdeaPad Yoga 11S, as it was announced at CES, in January, this year.

Can the Windows 8 ultrabook $799 Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11 impress?

What makes this ultrabook stand out is definitely the looks. The device comes in a very appealing clementine orange that steals your eyes away. It can also be perceived as a touch-screen tablet because it can appear as one; you’ll also find the “tent mode” and the “stand mode” quite useful as a display, especially when you will watch a movie, some photos or you’ll like to show some presentations.

For $799.99, you will get the base model, which includes the following:

  • Core i3 processor unit
  • 4GB of memory
  • 128GB solid-state drive
  • Windows 8 on 64-bits
  • Intel HD Graphics 4000

The top of the line model that sells for $1,349.99 comes with a Core i7 model, 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD. The HD screen is of course multi-touch and comes with a satisfactory  but not mind-blowing resolution of 1,366×768 pixels. We also find a 720p HD camera, a 4-cell rechargeable battery, Bluetooth 4.0 and HDMI output, which means that you should be able to stream your pictures and videos straight to your TV. Jay Parker, president of Lenovo North America, said the following:

So, this basically means that the device’s sale online is like a special promotion, too bad it doesn’t come with a free cover, like the recent Surface RT promotion. And if you’re really interested to buy the IdeaPad Yoga 11s, you should know that Best Buy have currently the best deal: for $799, you will get a midrange 1.5GHz Intel Core i5 model with 4GB RAM and 128GB of solid-state storage. It’s pretty weird that it is not Lenovo who has the best deal, but it shouldn’t be our concern. Head to BestBuy’s website if you want to buy it and save a whopping $200. Have a look at the video below to see the IdeaPad Yoga 11S in action.

Consumers around the world loved our first Yoga for its unique flip and fold and multi-mode design. We’re continuing to develop the Yoga franchise with the new Yoga 11s, and due to Yoga’s popularity already, we’ve created a pre-sale program so customers can get their hands on one before it even hits the shelves.

The bad part is that the keyboard isn’t detachable, so you can’t use it as a tablet in its true meaning. Also, the Yoga 11S might seem a little too heavy on the hand, at around 3.1 pounds (1.4 kg). All in all, the Yoga 11S mini-ultrabook is indeed an interesting proposition, especially if you compare it with the Surface Pro.
