The page yield (the number of pages a cartridge can print) of a printer’s toner or ink depends on a few things. The cartridge size and content of the documents you print decide how many pages a cartridge can print. A page full of text will use far less ink than a page full of pictures.

After using your printer for a few months or years, you might want to know how many pages your printer has printed so far on the current ink/toner cartridge. If you are wondering how to check the number of pages your printer has printed so far, there is an easy way.

As you know, printer manufacturers offer software to configure and change printer settings. In addition, the software can help you know the number of pages printed on your printer. For instance, HP offers an app called HP Smart, which allows you to check the number of pages your HP printer has printed so far on the current supplies.

Here is how to check how many pages your HP printer has printed.

NOTE: These directions are valid for HP printers connected to Windows 10/11 and macOS.

Method 1 of 2

Check how many pages the HP printer has printed

Step 1: The first step is to install the HP Smart app if it’s not installed. The app is free and available on Microsoft Store and Apple Store.

Step 2: Launch the HP Smart app. Ensure that the printer is turned on and the HP Smart app detects it.

Step 3: On the HP Smart app, click the Printer settings button.

Step 4: Next, on the left pane, click Advanced settings.

Step 5: Now, under the Home tab, click Supplies Status. On the right side, the Pages printed with this supply field shows the approximate number of pages printed with the current toner/cartridge/ink. Please note that the app cannot help you check the total number of pages printed on the printer since it was purchased. It only shows the approximate number of pages printed using the current toner/cartridge.

As you can see, the page also displays the number of pages that can be printed with the current supply.
