The other day, I was going through the HP Smart app to check if there was an option available to disable the printer sleep mode.

As you likely know, the HP Smart app shows you the ink level right on the app’s home page. However, the ink level does not help us calculate the approximate number of pages that can be printed with the available ink.

While checking the HP Smart app, I came across an interesting feature. The app shows the approximate number of pages the toner can print. That is, the app shows information about the approximate number of pages that can be printed with the currently available ink in the toner.

Here is how to check the approximate number of pages that can be printed with the current toner.

Check approximate remaining pages on HP printer

This guide works on both Windows and Mac.

Step 1: Open the HP Smart app. If not installed, get it from Windows or macOS Store. HP Smart app is available for Windows 11/10 and Mac.

Step 2: Once the HP Smart app is launched, click on the Printer settings button.

Step 3: On the left side, click Advanced settings.

Step 4: Now, under the Home tab, select Supplies Status. On the right side, the Approximate pages remaining field shows the approximate number of pages that can be printed with the currently available ink in the toner.

As said, the field shows the approximate number. However, remember that the amount of ink used to print a page depends on many things, including the number of pictures and words on a page. So, the app cannot show the exact number of pages you can print with the current toner.
