This feature is available now in Chrome Beta and it will be included in the next version of Chrome which will roll out next week.

With a few clicks, you will have the tabs grouped however you want them.
How can I use tab groups?
Right-click on any tab and select Add to a group like in the picture below.
Now right-click on any tab that you want to add to that group and select Add to existing group and select the group you want to add it to if you have more than one.
Now, all you need to do is to name the group by clicking on the dot that showed up at the left of the first tab you added in a group. You will see a menu where you can name it, choose a color for it, move the group to a new window or open a new tab in the same group, ungroup or close the group altogether.
What are tab groups for?
Tab groups are customizable so you can decide how to use them. And just like regular tabs, your groups are saved when you close and reopen Chrome.
The way you group them is totally up to you. You can group them by importance, priority, subject, you name it.
Google sais in a blog post that they will release the tab groups feature slowly in their upcoming version of Chrome, which will roll out next week. Tab groups will be available for Chrome on desktop across Chrome OS, Windows, Mac, and Linux.
If you want to preview tab groups today, you can do that if you download Google Chrome Beta. Google says that if you don’t see tab groups in Chrome Beta, you should try restarting the browser.
