Chuwi may be far from a household name in the 2-in-1 tablet market, but the Chinese company is not backing away from the Microsoft Surface Pro, currently the leader in that category. At the Consumer Electronic Show last month, Chuwi took the veil off its Hi13 2-in-1 tablet, though the company fell short of sharing the pricing and availability details.

Now Chuwi has revealed that Hi13 will hit stores starting February 20 for $369, far remarkably lower than the $799 Surface Pro 4 and the $1,299 Surface Book. The modest price tag is due in large part to the less-than-stellar specs, though the tablet is nothing to sneeze at if you are budget-conscious.

The tablet sports a 13.5-inch display that supports 10-point multi-touch input. Inside, it packs an Intel Celeron N3450 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of eMMC storage. Chuwi also squeezed a MicroSD card slot into the device, making its overall storage expandable up to 128GB.

On the connectivity side, the 2-in-1 tablet includes a USB Type-C port, a micro HDMI port, and two full-sized USB ports. Hi13 also ships with Chuwi’s HiPen H3 digital pen and a detachable keyboard.

Hi13 shows off an impressive screen resolution of 3,000 x 2,000 pixels, giving you a hard decision once you choose between Chuwi’s offering and that of other high-end brands. Windows 10 Home comes pre-installed in the Hi13, along with support for Ubuntu.

Obviously, the 2-in-1 segment is increasingly adding more manufacturers to its fold, and Chuwi is among the newbies. It is highly unlikely, however, that Microsoft will scamper back to its production department to refresh the company’s existing offering. That is, most Surface Pro challengers today are not something to write home about. Nonetheless, the Chuwi Hi13 is a good compromise for the price.
