Users who have been using PCs running the Windows operating system for a long time know a few keyboard shortcuts. Keyboard shortcuts, as you know, help you access various features of the Windows operating system with ease.

Although most users know a few keyboard shortcuts, many PC users do not know about touchpad gestures. Users who own a laptop probably know the basic touchpad gestures like two-finger scrolling and two-finger tap for a right click. Did you know that Windows 10 and Windows 11 offer three and four-finger gestures?

You can do much more using the touchpad with three and four-finger gestures. For instance, you can configure Windows 10/11 t open the search with a three-finger tap. In addition, you can maximize and minimize windows with a three-finger swipe up and down.

This guide will show you how to enable and configure three and four-finger touchpad gestures in Windows 10/11.

NOTE: Please note that not all laptops support three and four-finger gestures. Only Precision Touchpads support these gestures, but most of the laptops manufactured in the last three-four years came with Precision Touchpads.

Configure three and four-finger gestures in Windows 10

Step 1: Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad page.

Step 2: Here, scroll down the page to see Three finger gestures section. From the Swipes drop-down menu, select what happens when you swipe. Likewise, choose an action from the Taps section to decide what happens when you tap with three fingers.

Step 3: Scroll down the page further to see the Four-finger gestures section. Once again, select actions from Swipes and Taps drop-down menu to configure the four-finger gestures.

Configure three and four-finger gestures in Windows 11

Step 1: In Windows 11, go to Settings > Bluetooth and devices > Touchpad page. In Windows 10, navigate to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.

Step 2: In the Gestures and interaction section, click on Advanced gestures.

Step 3: Next, click on Configure three-finger gestures to expand the same. Select what happens when you tap, swipe up, swipe down, swipe left, and swipe right with three fingers.

Note that you can disable a particular gesture by selecting “Nothing” from the drop-down menu.

Step 4: Next, click on Configure four-finger gestures. Again, select the actions you want to perform when you tap, swipe down, swipe up, right, and left with three fingers. That’s it!
