Cortana Cannot Recognize Music Here Are Some Alternatives

Microsoft recently ended support for the popular Groove music streaming service. Unfortunately, this decision lead to an annoying problem among Windows 10 users: Cortana can no longer recognize songs.

Microsoft’s virtual assistant music recognition feature is attached to Groove Music, but since the service has been retired, this also means that this option is no longer available.

Jason Deakins, who works on Cortana at Microsoft confirmed the bad news on Twitter:

Now, when you try to use Cortana’s music recognition icon, a “Song unrecognized” error message appears on the screen, informing you that “this service has been retired.”

Many Windows 10 users criticized this decision, saying that the removal of Groove Music is one of the worst decisions Microsoft has ever made. The company is always boasting about Cortana’s top-notch AI capabilities, but the decision to remove the music recognition feature makes the assistant less appealing to users. Indeed, there are many Windows 10 users who enabled Cortana exclusively for its music recognition feature.
