Microsoft’s integration of Cortana with the Windows 10 desktop offers great functionality to users, enabling you to look at your daily agenda or to shout out voice commands quickly and easily. Despite its many features, searching the web with Cortana is still a bit clunky. However, Microsoft is currently in the process of testing an update that may improve the searching experience.

Searching the web quickly

For now, the search results displayed by Cortana still require users to open them in Edge. But with an updated user interface, Microsoft is testing the idea of a dual-pane system. With just a simple click, you would be able to expand search results via Bing to see more relevant information from the desktop itself.

Such a feature would allow users to check for information such as currency conversions and more without having to open a browser. The new pane would also incorporate the various tabs are found on the Bing search engine, enabling you to browse through images and videos to get a quick glance.

The updated UI is still being tested

The update is still in the testing process and a Reddit user was able to get his hands on it and share the new UI. There is also the possibility that Microsoft will decide to shelve this entire idea if we consider how there hasn’t been any official statement from the company regarding if and when it would make this feature available to the general public. We’ll just have to wait and see what Microsoft plans on doing.
